Have I told you that I love Skillshare? I've been taking lots of classes and taking taking full advantage of my membership. I just finished Surface Pattern Design 2.0 with Bonnie Christine. In this class, she walks you through the process of creating a pattern collection by helping you learn to create a repeat and to design a collection that is engaging and thoughtful. There are also a ton of freebies to help you learn how to craft the perfect portfolio, mock up your patterns and build a better blog. I also took the precursor to this course, Into to Surface Pattern Design. Here is a look at what I've created. I think I will still go back and tweak some things. I'm finding that if I go back to a design after a few days, I see it with fresh eyes and can see what improvements need to be made.
Overall I'm happy with what I created, six months ago I didn't think I would be this advanced. But, the more you do, the better you get. There are still some tweaks I'll make to this collection, like, Mixed bag can be tightened up a bit. I'm not loving Groundcover and I really don't think Spring Rain or barriers totally fit. Maybe a stripe needs to be added or more simple geometrics. Feel free to leave any feedback, it all helps!!
An Interior Designer by trade, I love to create! Interiors, textiles and lifestyles. Please feel free to contact me about projects and licensing.
